Have you seen When Calls the Heart? Because if not, you should fix that immediately. For your own happiness. I haven’t blown through a TV show this fast since Gilmore Girls.

June says “blue” to me in the same way that Wisconsin says “red” and my best friend says “pink.” Apparently, that means I have some kind of mental glitch? I think it’s awesome. You develop a lasting appreciation for color when your job description requires you to look at black text on white pages for seven hours a day.

Editing has been slow this month, but I’m determined to keep my work/life balance in order. I have to check in with my World of Dance people, you know? More on that soon.

Edit 20 has been one heck of a rollercoaster. My three new characters are irrepressibly chatty, which I love, but it does make them unpredictable. I’ve added to the outline for these scenes several times now as they let me in on all the things they forgot to mention when we met. Now you know why it’s been slow-going, but honestly, as an author, it doesn’t get much better than characters who write the book by themselves.

Work projects have definitely taken up the majority of my time this month, but I did get a chance to read The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni. This is an excellent book for team leaders and anyone interested in improving their leadership and communication skills. I suggest watching an episode of When Calls the Heart between chapters. Or, if you’re a pro multitasker, I guess you could do both at the same time. And then teach me how that’s possible.
